Opportunities for your child to get involved

Birch Grove TV

Birch Grove TV provides news, announcements and updates to our school community. Students help write, produce and deliver the news each day.

District 279 Children's Chorus

For more than 50 years, the District 279 Children's Chorus has provided a high quality vocal music experience for elementary students, as well as extraordinary performances for the community. District 279 Chorus members demonstrate high vocal music skills relative to others of their age, experience or environment.

The chorus has approximately 100 members representing all of the elementary schools in our district. Every fall, students in grades 4 and 5 may audition to join the chorus.

Drama Troupes

Birch Grove has two Drama Troupes—one for Grades 2-3 and one for Grades 4-5. This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to gain more acting and performance experience. Approximately 12 students are cast in each troupe.

Troupes meet every six days during the school year (during the day) and perform in December and May. In the six weeks prior to each performance, the troupes will rehearse after school.

Fifth Grade Band & Orchestra

Students in fifth grade can participate in the school band or orchestra. Lessons begin in October each year and students are expected to practice 4-5 times per week on their own.

School Musical

Each year, approximately 60 thespians at Birch Grove are cast in our school musical. Students rehearse for several months prior to the performances in March. Past productions include "Honk Junior," "Shrek," "Willy Wonka" and "Madagascar."

Student Council

Young leaders can help shape their school community by serving on the Birch Grove Elementary Student Council.
